7 week Course on Mondays from 19th Feb – 8th April 2024
GETTING COMFORTABLE WITH THE ‘SMART’ WORLD OF PHONES, TV’S, IPADS AND DESKTOPS IN THE DIGITAL WORLD – This course aims to meet a variety of needs and interests for everyone in the changing world of digital communication.
WHO SHOULD COME TO THE COURSE – If you have little or no knowledge of computers, iPads and the Internet you will gain confidence from common – sense practical presentations explaining how all these devices work together.
WHAT TO BRING – No equipment is necessary as we have computers and iPads but feel free to bring your own too. A notebook and pen (yes we think they are essential in a digital world). In addition, if you have very limited understanding of computers and the internet but have an idea of how to use a household stove, perhaps a manual car or a normal phone on a line…and preferably an open mind to learning, a little patience and a sense of humour will help a lot!
ABOUT THE COURSE – – Each week we will have a presentation about a particular area of the equipment and the digital world. We’ll look at keyboards and clouds, firewalls and cookies, entertainment, and communication. We will look at how you can talk to your computer and it will type a letter for you or translate your letter into another language. We will allow time for discussion and sharing of common problems or concerns that the group may have. Make a note and bring your questions with you!
For those with concerns about online safety we will discuss Privacy, Fraud and Scams in some detail.
Since many of the parking areas around Orana are limited to 2 hours, we will take a break to allow relocation of vehicles and sometimes a break to rest the mind.
Look forward to seeing you there!
Orana Adult Learning classes are charged at $50 for your first class registration each term and $22 for any additional classes you add for that term. This class however is free so is not counted towards any other classes you do.
